This procedure document is for Workforce Extensions network users to refer to when initiating and troubleshooting data syncing from your office's SharePoint site into OneDrive to access documents inside and outside of your local machine and/or VDI.
This is how to configure the following:
- Initiating the first sync on your SharePoint site
- Checking OneDrive is syncing
CONFIGURING ONEDRIVE
Step 1. | To initiate the sync using OneDrive, please do the following: Open your SharePoint site and select “Documents” from the LHS menu. (Helpdesk can advise you on the URL of your SharePoint site) | ![]() |
Step 2. | Click “Sync” from the ribbon menu at the top of the document library | ![]() |
Step 3. | If prompted, tick to always allow SharePoint to open these link types in One Drive (associated app) and then press “Open Microsoft OneDrive” | ![]() |
Step 4. | You should now be prompted for a OneDrive login and you will then be taken through a brief wizard to configure the OneDrive sync. Leave all settings default and complete the wizard. | |
Step 5. | On the final screen, there should be on option to “Open OneDrive Folder”. Clicking this will show you the location of the folders which can also be added to "Quick Access" | ![]() |
CHECKING ONEDRIVE IS SYNCING
Step 1. | Open OneDrive via the System Tray or through the Start Menu If opening OneDrive from the Start Menu, OneDrive will open any already configured OneDrive folders and will also add itself to the System Tray. This is where we will access the settings menu as shown | ![]() |
Step 2. | Right click on the System Tray icon for OneDrive and then click the “Cog” image in the top right of the menu that appears and then select “Settings” | ![]() |
Step 3. | If not already selected, Click on the “Account” tab to show the accounts associated with the application and what, if anything, is syncing | ![]() |
Step 4. | The above is correct and what the settings should look like with the account name of the logged in OneDrive account being displayed at the top. Ensuring this is the correct account is a good starting point. |
